My name is Ronald Morales and I am the owner of Waya Rentals. Several years ago I purchased my first property in Southwest Michigan. My sole purpose was to have a place that was convenient to my home town of Chicago—and a perfect place for me and my family to get away. Considering the constant growth of the area, I decided upon Harbor Country.
Shortly after the purchase, I realized that even though we used it often, there will still dates when we chose to stay in Chicago. Given the expense of the second home, we decided to occasionally rent it. The first and biggest concern we had was “opening it up:”l We had just finished putting our heart into it, not to mention a lot of money.
Once the rentals started, though, I realized that my not-so-typical rental attracted some not-so-typical renters. People sensed how much we put into this home and they respected it as if it was their own. I still had to screen potential renters, but for the most part, the people that rented the home could tell that it was truly a second home and, in return, treated it that way.
Since then, I have purchased several homes and currently have the top rentals in Southwest Michigan. I also started managing homes for some of the most respected homeowners in the area. Most recently, I made the decision to get my real estate license and help others find their perfect second home—introducing them to renting as a way to help cover costs.
